The deadly accident took place last Thursday at 6:15 a.m. as Lindsay Schmidt, 26, was traveling on Route 446 near the Pennsylvania border with two passengers, an adult man and a 4 year-old toddler.
According to reports, Schmidt lost control of her car on the icy road and spun out of control right into the path of a tractor-trailer traveling south.
Schmidt’s small sedan was struck on the driver’s side and she was killed instantly. The toddler was ejected from the car, according to the Bradford Era. Both passengers in Schmidt’s car, Christopher Johnston, 23, and a toddler who has not been identified were critically injured and were taken to a local hospital.
Police said none of the people in the car were wearing their seat belts.
The truck driver, identified as Kevin David Padlo, 53, was not injured, but his truck suffered a great deal of damage.
