Local journal River Towns reports that the accident occurred on June 4th around 3:30 p.m. on Route Police said a 16-year-old local teen was traveling west on Highway 10 when he made a left turn and was struck by an eastbound tractor-trailer.
The teen driver was injured and was flown to the hospital with undetermined injuries, but is expected to survive, according to the local journal. The truck driver, a Wisconsin native, was not hurt.
This accident is still under investigation, so we don’t yet know if the teen driver or the truck driver was at fault. If the teen pulled out in front of the truck, possibly miscalculating the truck’s distance, then the truck driver is not liable for the teen’s injuries and he can’t expect compensation from the truck driver. On the other hand, if the truck driver was speeding prior to a collision they could be considered fully or partly responsible for a collision.
