Why Speeding is Hazardous

Speed limits are developed with the safety of all motorists in mind and consider many factors like traffic flow, depth of curves and steepness of inclines. Truckers may be in a hurry and shrug off the speed limit and go as fast as they want, but they imperil themselves and others when they do.

No one can predict what is going to happen down the road and driver too fast can make it impossible for a driver to stop. A tractor-trailer that weighs 80,000 lbs. requires up to 250 feet to come to a complete stop if they are traveling 60 mph, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
