Three fiery crashes occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 90/94/39 in Wisconsin recently that involved multiple vehicles including two semi-trailer trucks. The Portage Daily Register says the first accident happened at around 4:00 a.m. near Lodi at Highway 60. Officials believe a semi-trailer had crashed into the back of another. About an hour after this accident happened, police say a straight truck then collided into the crash scene where officials had still been working. The second accident left a Columbia County Highway Department worker seriously injured and two state troopers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
All three individuals were transported to UW Hospital in Madison for treatment. Photos from the accident scene showed a state patrol vehicle smashed and unrecognizable.
Then, at around 6:45 a.m., another accident was reported on the interstate near Highway K that was initiated by a semi-trailer that was said to be traveling at highway speeds. The truck caused a chain-reaction crash that involved seven vehicles, including a dump truck and four passenger vehicles. Officials say fatalities and injuries were recorded at this accident scene.
An Investigation is Underway
Accidents that are serious in nature and involve large commercial vehicles often take several days or even weeks before the cause of the crash is determined. While officials were not able to confirm what caused all three of these collisions that occurred on I-90/94/30, State Patrol Sgt. Michael Marquardt did release a statement saying “investigators will be combing through witness accounts, vehicle data, and video to figure it out. Some witnesses who [were] hospitalized [may] not be able to [provide] statements for some time.”
Police do believe, however, that two of the accidents were the result of inattentive driving.
Should I hire an accident attorney if I was involved in a truck collision near Lodi, Wisconsin?
If you suffered injuries in a collision with a commercial truck in Wisconsin, it would be in your best interest to at least consult with a Wisconsin accident lawyer. If you know you are going to need ongoing medical care and will be required to go through rehab, an accident attorney can determine how much you are entitled to receive for your injuries along with the parties who should be paying you. While most victims assume they can just collect a check from the at-fault party’s insurance carrier, not always does this work out in their favor.
In fact, insurance companies are known to undervalue claims, leaving a victim walking away from an accident with significantly less than what they would have collected had they been represented by an attorney. With that said, if you want to be sure all liable parties are held accountable for the wreck and that you are awarded the maximum amount of compensation you are entitled to, let USAttorneys.com connect you with some of the best accident lawyers in Wisconsin who can help you through this tough time.
