State police find that a pickup truck driver lost control and was killed in a highway crash
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to an area on Interstate Highway 10, near County Road 417 on a Thursday afternoon. Police believe that the victim was driving his truck on I-10 westbound, when the vehicle started to suddenly drift to the left. The truck went into the median, and the driver tried to make an evasive maneuver to go back onto the road. They think that the victim may have pulled too hard to the right and went back across the westbound lanes. The vehicle spun out and eventually flipped over. Police said that the vehicle landed on a grass shoulder and hit a tree after it was on its side.
The victim was a 26 year old male from DeLand, Florida. He was taken to Lake City Medical Center for treatment, but died a short time later. The FHP did not release his name or any other details about his identity. No other vehicles appeared to have been affected and no other injuries were reported. A more thorough investigation was planned by the state police with assistance from local law enforcement.
Lawsuits and motor vehicle accidents
All kinds of automobile accidents are some of the most common causes of injuries, insurance claims, and lawsuits throughout the state of Florida and the United States. In order to preserve the possibility of a lawsuit, it is important to exchange information with other drivers involved at the scene of the accident, contact the local police or fire department, and report the incident to your insurance provider as soon as possible after the crash. This will start the process for police to investigate and make an accident report, which can become a crucial piece of evidence in a related lawsuit.
Learning about filing a civil case
After reporting the collision at the scene and to your insurance company, it is recommended to speak with a personal injury lawyer in your city. They will give you advice about how to proceed based on evidence related to your accident and advise you whether a settlement agreement or trial may be the best way to conclude your case.
