The accident occurred on May 7th around three a.m. on Highway 50 in Sacramento as a CHP officer was investigating a previous hit-and-run collision, ABC 10 reports. The officer was investigating a two-car accident involving a driver who fled on foot when a FedEx tractor-trailer struck him.

The 41-year-old driver of the FedEx truck was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Two days after the crash, CHP spokesperson Michael Bradley told KCRA that they believed the truck driver was under the influence of drugs.
