CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – The driver of a UPS truck was killed Wednesday morning near Charlotte following a serious truck accident.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol have identified the driver as Garry Wilkerson, 58, of Chesterfield County, Virginia. Wilkerson was killed when his UPS truck ran off Interstate 85 South and hit a bridge.
The truck’s two trailers fell off the highway onto a road and Wilkerson was thrown from the vehicle.
According to UPS Freight Spokesman Ira Rosenfeld, Wilkerson had been a truck driver for 25 years and was in the process of finishing the first leg of a route between Richmond and Charlotte.
Police are still investigating the cause of the truck accident.
